For 60 years BABOR has been conducting research to make us more beautiful every day – always tailor making solutions to meet our skincare needs. What makes the German skincare brand more attractive today than ever is its confident approach to the future. “BABOR is a luxury brand and more in demand than ever before,” says Managing Director Michael Schummert, “and we still have a lot of plans.” That is clear to see, for instance, at BABOR’s flagship salon in Berlin, which is located right next to the celebrity restaurant Borchardt. Or, on the other side of the world, at the elegant Alila Villas Uluwatu resort in Bali or the Viceroy Hotel & Spa in Miami. What today is a fast-forward brand that captures the hearts of the most discerning beautistas began as a bold vision created by a scientist – in a kitchen in Cologne.

In 1956 the German biochemist Dr. Michael Babor developed HY-ÖL, an oil-based cleanser. He thus laid the foundations for many prize-winning innovations – and for the BABOR Company. In the Swinging Sixties, BABOR began gathering momentum. The entrepreneurial Vossen family took over the beauty start-up and brought it to Aachen, transforming a scientist’s idea into a global brand. To the present day, BABOR remains a family firm, now run by the third generation of the family. Solid scientific research is in BABOR’s DNA and to the present day has been a key element of the company. Every product – from the original idea through to the final packaging – is “Made in Germany”.


The company’s philosophy that beauty is something very individual is equally firm and unshakable. Every product is developed for specific skin requirements because skin is as unique as a fingerprint. This means that experts at beauty salons and SPAs can individually tailor their BABOR skincare treatments and create a beauty experience that combines precision with an indulging experience – in other words, the art of precision skincare. “We would like every woman to discover the real person inside her. Unveiling beauty is what we do every day – in the laboratory and at beauty salons,” Schummert says. After 60 years, BABOR is looking to the future with confidence. The individual active ampoules are legendary. “So naturally we will be celebrating in our anniversary year 2016 with a highlight – a new night-time ampoule.”
