SA Spa Association 2021 – Restructured, including FREE Membership

The South African Spa Association is the ambassador for the Spa Industry, with representation in all aspects related to spas, such as health and wellness, tourism and hospitality, education and training.

 

2020 has been a challenging year, to say the least! It is in times like these we are reminded of the importance of support: such as the South African Spa Association, working closely with International Spa Associations, Intelligent Spas, The Global Wellness Institute and Spa Business, together with vital global initiatives, such as The Wellness Moonshot or the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, that prioritize wellbeing for all. The worldwide pandemic, civil unrest, loss of income, and job security have caused many changes and loss in our lives and businesses. Yet, in loss, we discover there is much to learn and be improved.

 

The South Africa’s Spa Industry is relatively young by global standards. Established and emerging spa businesses need to constantly improve their business and management skills, keep up with new changing trends within the industry, and develop good business practices and partnerships. Access to resources are needed that can assist in market research and improving industry standards, professional training and education.

 

The association members are professionals that work in partnership to develop and implement approaches that will help shape the future of the South African Spa Industry.

Additionally, the South African Spa Association provides consumers with quality assurance and added protection, through assessing and the certification of each member’s spa facility according to recognized international criteria, so allowing spa visitors to have peace of mind when visiting a spa that bears the South African Spa Association logo.

The Association therefore has an important role to:

  • grow a trustworthy industry
  • educate the spa visitor about the benefits of spa experiences
  • build confidence in spa therapies
  • quality control the spa establishments
  • assure the Certification of Membership

 

Create partnerships within allied associations and provide networking opportunities for member

  • Liase with international spa association and respective authorities
  • Liase with media, creating a public awareness for the South African Spas
  • Collaboration opportunities at exhibitions, conferences and business opportunities

Who are members of the South African Spa Association:

The association is dedicated to be an accessible and inclusive organization. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the Spa Industry, but will be of particular benefit to:

What are the Benefits of Membership?

 

In addition to Member Spa Certification, the list of FREE Benefits and Additional PAID Benefits for each member of the SA Spa Association is extensive, with new benefits being constantly added, we therefore encourage members to visit the website on a regular basis.

All travel and accomodation costs for the Initial spa inspection need to be covered by the Spa or Hotel, where situated outside the Johannesburg/Pretoria, Cape Town or Durban area.

(In cases, where a number of spas are closely located, all attempts will be made to do the spa inspections over the same time period, so costs can be shared – please discuss with the Spa Association)

Spa Association Logo and Digital Certificate: All Spa Association members receive and are allowed to use the logo and certificate during active membership status on their website, collateral marketing material, promotions and client communication. Credibility with the client is established, as each spa is site inspected and conforms to the code of conduct and passes the Site Inspection.

Additional PAID Member Benefits Include:

 

The SA Spa Association is based on a Project System, allowing spas to build their own spa membership puzzle and us as an Association to introduce more quality endorsed options to our members. In the case of all course, workshops and conferences attended, certificates will be issued to the attendees.

 

  1. Individual Spa Webpage on the South African Spa Association website, which links to your own spa website. The SA Spa Association website is dynamic, interactive trade and consumer website, regularly featuring press releases, new articles, spa therapies courses, job opportunities, Eco-Spa Initiatives, On-going training initiates, events, Social Initiatives, and more. Therefore making it a highly visible space for your spa to be featured.

 

Cost of set-up as per template: R 500 and changes thereafter, such as specials, competitions, new menus, new products, etc at R 200 per hour or part thereof. Managed and invoiced directly by the webmaster, Armitage.

 

  1. Regional Networking events: A membership discount for networking events with guest speakers on a variety of topics to assist spas with their operational, marketing and motivational aspects.

 

  1. Ongoing Educational and Empowerment Courses and Workshops: A selection of course are available, quality controlled and endorsed by the SA Spa Association. Liase directly with the respective companies listed on the website, for more information, costs, quotes, schedule, etc. Each course is managed and invoiced directly by the respective company.

 

  1. Job Opportunities: Relationships have been formed with a number of recruitment companies and an open page for individual spas to post job opportunities, so creating a collective portal for candidates to visit. No cost to the candidate, but page sponsorship fees applicable to recruitment companies and R 200.00 for individual job posts (managed by Armitage).

 

  1. Special Projects: Special projects includes a variety of one off events, such as an exhibition, invitationals, Spa index or other Publications, and special opportunities for members to get involved by choice.

 

  1. Special Projects & Services include services like group insurance, consultation, spa benchmark reports, liasing with other industry legal bodies, such as Intelligent Spas, SAAHSP, EOHCB, etc

 

  1. Eco-Spa Initiatives: Includes on-going Workshops and Training, Green Spa Certification and list of certified members on the SA Spa Association Website, Green Spa Consultations, and Promoting Sustainable Activities and on-going sustainability information. Liase directly with the respective companies listed on the website, for more information, costs, quotes, schedule, etc. Each course is managed and invoiced directly by the respective company.

 

  1. Social Initiatives: A selection of initiatives will be identified where members can contribute to, get involved and participate, or create their own initiatives. Examples, include: World Wellness Weekend, Global Wellness Day, 16 Days of Activism against abuse of women and children, Nosh, etc.
