It was almost certainly an estate agent who coined the phrase “Location, location, location” but it could just as easily have been a spa developer because when it comes to spas, the choice of the perfect location is a key ingredient in the success of a spa. And Canelands Beach Club & Spa has definitely claimed one of KZN’s prime positions. Located in the coastal town of Salt Rock on KwaZulu Natal‘s Dolphin Coast, just north of Ballito, Canelands Beach Club & Spa could not be closer to the beach unless it was actually floating in the Indian Ocean! A few steps from the pool deck and terraced garden and you will be able to feel the sand between your toes.
It should not come as a surprise that this gem of a location was recognized by industry icon, Jennifer Eales, as the ideal location to open a spa. South African born Eales trained in London in the 1970’s and launched The ‘Jennifer Jane’ clinic in Avonmore Center in 1975, the first in a line of skin care clinics that have been nurtured by Eales over the past two decades. She is regarded as one of the skin care industry’s most experienced and fervent supporters, which means that we can expect this spa to carry all the hallmarks associated with the Jennifer Eales brand – outstanding service, professional treatment and ongoing skin care education.
Says Eales “after so many years in the business it felt like a natural synergy to be located in this gorgeous getaway that overlooks the ocean and is synonymous with relaxation, rejuvenation and the highest quality, we are delighted to be the operator in this one of a kind resort on the North Coast.” The spa operates daily and consists of four treatment rooms with trained therapists. The spa menu ranges from individual treatment to half day and day packages that can be tailor-made to suit the client. A Signature Canelands Spa treatment package will be created to suit individuals or couples. They even have a beautiful gazebo overlooking the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean where guests can enjoy a memorable massage.
Having visited Canelands some time ago, I was delighted to learn that the establishment now boasted a world-class spa and I could not wait to have the opportunity to experience a spa treatment at Canelands first-hand. Upon arrival at the spa, I was welcomed by spa manager, Letitia Duvenhage who took the time to assess my personal massage preferences whilst I sipped a refreshing fruit cocktail in the spa’s elegant reception area. I was then shown to one of the spa’s tastefully decorated treatment rooms to commence my full body massage. There is something magical about the healing power of the hands and when a massage is administered by a skilful therapist, the result is sublime. I left the treatment room on a cloud.
But it is not just the idyllic location that makes the Canelands Beach Club & Spa a venue worth visiting. Perhaps even more importantly, the spa delivers all the other ingredients required to make it a success, namely well trained therapists, world class products and a spa menu to tantalise even the most experienced spa goers.
