Express hairstyling in trendy salon environment now available in Joburg
Renowned national beauty and nail salon chain, Sorbet, is pioneering an innovative new concept in hairstyling in South Africa. Called the Sorbet Drybar, this exciting concept comes to SA fresh from the US and is being launched in the country exclusively by Sorbet.
Essentially an express hair salon, Sorbet Drybar offers convenient, affordable blow-drys in a relaxed, funky environment complete with in-salon entertainment. “So we don’t offer cuts or colours, just quick-in and quick-out blow-drys for the ultimate in convenience,” explains Jade Kirkel, Sorbet Drybar brand manager.
In fact, convenience is being completely redefined at Sorbet Drybars, with these novel new salons operating from 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. They also boast a flat rate of just R140 per blow, no matter the length or texture of the hair, and offer a host of value-added services that guests can enjoy at the same time, all under one roof. Guests can kick back and relax while enjoying these treatments, as well as the free in-salon WiFi, DVDs, music and complimentary champagne.
“Our stylists have been expertly trained at L’Oréal Professional, and our hair products are drawn from the L’Oréal range, specifically the L’Oréal Professionnel, Redken and Mizani brands, and Vaudrey range. We also offer a complete range of nail services, including Essie manis and pedis, new nail sets, overlays, fills, gelish and transfers. Plus guests can pick up a range of Sorbet bath and body products at the salons, to either indulge themselves or spoil a friend,” adds Kirkel.
Treating friends and family is actually one of Sorbet Drybars unique focus areas, as the salons have the capacity to host groups of women as part of bridal showers, baby showers, teen parties and bachelorette parties.
A wide range of styles is catered for through the Sorbet Drybar blow dry menu, with each being named after a traditional sorbet flavour. These include Vanilla (standard blowout with a little bit of volume); Espresso (sleek and chic); Rocky Road (lots of curls); Amaretto (the beach look); Honey Comb (the bigger the better); Rum and Raisin (short and punchy); Lemon Twist (up, up and away) and Tutti Frutti (for little ones aged 10 and under).
Sorbet Society loylaty members can enjoy their rewards and benefits at Sorbet Drybar, which means free blowouts when members reach their thresholds and 50% discounts on their birthdays. Sorbet guests can also earn also Clicks ClubCard points every time they make a purchase at Sorbet Drybar.
“The Sorbet brand has established a strong presence in the local beauty salon and nail market, and the new Sorbet Drybar addition is a natural brand extension of our existing offerings. The drybar concept is very popular in the USA but completely new to South Africa, so we’ve adapted it slightly. The general idea is that women from all walks of life, whether busy moms, high-flying execs preparing for a big meeting or event or bridal parties on the morning of the wedding are able to enjoy a convenient hair service in a fun, vibey environment. Basically, it’s an affordable luxury,” says Kirkel of the Sorbet Drybar experience.
The first Sorbet Drybar will open in early August 2012 in the Dunkeld West Shopping Centre, Shop number 2A, Corner Bompass Road and Jan smuts Avenue.
