Launched in 2001, Willow Stream Spa is the signature spa brand of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. The philosophy is to draw a connection to nature, provide a nurturing environment, and create a sense of place by offering locally authentic experiences.
On arrival at Zimbali, one can only be impressed with the attention to detail, embracement of the natural environment and spectacular sea views. Although the home to large number of residents on the Estate, privacy and exclusivity is maintained, for each hotel guest, spa visitor and estate resident. 
I was delighted to see this attention to detail followed through to the spa and its philosophy. Willow Stream draws on the nature, essence and energy of each location to create a story. At the Fairmont Zimbali Resort, the beauty of the South Africa is brought inside with palettes of rich dark wood, soft gold, and energizing shades of copper and orange – reminiscent of the spectacular dawn sunrise. Locally produced artwork graces the walls, “bantu” or African stools offer casual seating, tiled stone with palettes of copper and brown finishes represent the rich soil and colourful countryside, and water features reflect the ocean-side location.
I enjoyed the SIX Timeless Skin Treatment – a facial revolving around the senses giving a truly different and memorable experience combined with results driven skincare solutions and a series of massages during the facial treatment using a unique range of tools like a music massage stick, thai herbal dumplings, soy candles and cold marble stones.
The Timeless Skin treatment consisting of cleanse, tone, skin analysis, exfoliation, facial massage, mask and finishing creams. This facial includes skin firming with cold marble stones and a cooling eye treatment. The products used are adapted to your specific skin needs, but of particular interest to me was the Six Super Hydrating Peel Off Mask, an alginate masks extracted from brown seaweed which has a lifting effect, improves blood circulation, increases supply of oxygen to the skin, has an anti-inflammatory action and finally a strong anti-ageing effect – just what I needed after a few exhausting days of travel.
While treatments are important, research indicates that the facilities assist in enhancing the therapeutic experience. The Willow Stream spa offers a nail salon for manicures and pedicures, private relaxation lounges, hydrotherapy areas, and a Great Room with cocoon-like lounges and chairs for post-treatment enjoyment – I just loved this unique and inviting relaxation area, it truly connected each facet of the spa, in a simple manner.
My visit to Willow Stream Spa at Fairmont Zimbali Resort was impressive and I definitely left with a sense of pampering and overall feeling of wellness.
