Following last year’s launch of the GoBeauty Mobile App in partnership with WeChat that aims to take the beauty industry into the 21st century by transforming the way we book beauty treatments, GoBeauty is adding a new service: ‘Tripadvisor-style website for beauty establishments’.
GoBeauty exists to make life easier for customers who are increasingly more ‘mobile’ and enable them to discover and locate all different types of salons and spas, book online and buy and send gift vouchers conveniently and with more confidence.
Technology is changing how we manage some of these most intimate aspects of our lives, and GoBeauty’s aim is to furnish our users with a unique platform giving them instant access to the most comprehensive collection of spas and beauty salons across the country, where they can action what they need to do.
The platform will offer users a ‘one glance’ view of the beauty salon: what does it look like, sample of the services available and the most popular treatments, what are the prices like, what brands are they using, which amenities are available (yes, if there is a wifi!) and previous customer reviews.
The ‘command bar’ enables users to easily and quickly Review, Book, or Buy Vouchers. And the super-responsive site means that it is usable on all devices: laptops, all different size mobile phones and tablets.
GoBeauty aims to deliver the most authentic, accurate and up-to-date information; no stock photos only genuine images of the establishments and their actual treatments, in a consistent, meaningful and insightful way.
Currently listing over 400 salons, it is South Africa’s largest collection of salons, spas, beauty, hair, nails, laser, aesthetic clinics, spray tan technicians and makeup artists in one place, but our goal is much higher, to reach every corner of the country.
How does it work?
Each salon has their own page with all their info contained on one page. In order to make the site truly user-friendly, we made it ‘slimline’ – no unnecessary information, only the essence of the ‘experience’ of the salon. A lot of information is therefore only represented by icons: eg. the main services offered are illustrated by icons, while the brands they are using are represented by their logos.
We also want you to get a real feel of the place, so we are listing their amenities: are you going to receive a cup of a coffee while you are waiting for your hair colour to develop; is there a scent in the air that makes you feel relaxed or are you able to listen to soothing music in a luxurious environment while your facial mask is doing its magic; can you step into a garden after your treatment or rest in a relaxation room.
In extending the insight into the place, there is a list of main services offered but also a list of their most popular treatments. There are of course also images of the salon, treatment rooms and/or treatments.
Searching.
The advanced search enables you to look for a ‘hair salon in Cape Town’, but also for a ‘Dermalogica Age-smart treatment in Pretoria’ or ‘Botox in Sandton’, specific salon or just a town or neighbourhood.
Creating your private page.
For customers who register on the site, there is an option to create your own private page with your favourite salons to enable quick repeat bookings, where you can edit or hide your reviews and also view your gift voucher purchases. Registered users can also be notified of specials in their area with GPS accuracy so that you don’t receive notifications for something you are not interested in and is not relevant to you.
Reviewing.
A short form enables customers to give their feedback in a form of rating (for ambiance, cleanliness etc.) and also their suggestion if there is anything that can be improved and any personal tips to future customers. Furthermore, the reviews also provide the foundation for calculating the ‘top rated’ salons in the area for more insights.
Bookings.
At the moment there is a ‘Request Appointment’ available at all salons listed. However, as we are also partnered with the market leader in salon software in South Africa, our role is really to provide direct booking facilities. We are in process of integrating the setup of ‘real-time bookings’ just like the one on the GoBeauty App. Even without it, the request booking is not your usual “send the request and hope someone comes back to me” scenario, but it is supported by the system which processes your enquiry the moment you make your request, notifies the salon in a way that enables them to connect with you instantly and confirm the requested appointment.
Buying gift vouchers.
Again, designed for convenience in mind, everybody’s favorite gift vouchers are available to be redeemed at any salon listed, enabling customers to buy a voucher and send it to someone across the country. Payments are processed online and secured with 3D security while the vouchers are sent to the recipient’s mobile phone or email address. To redeem the voucher – there is no printing involved or waiting for it to arrive in the post, the voucher is literally on your mobile phone so you can redeem it anytime (in the next 3 years) by just showing your phone at the time of your treatment.
