The Theme for 2018: [Reinvent] your Spa
Change (something) so much that it appears to be entirely new.
Sooner or later, all businesses, even the most successful, run out of room to grow. Faced with this unpleasant reality, they are compelled to reinvent themselves periodically. The ability to pull off this difficult feat—to jump from the maturity stage of one business to the growth stage of the next—is what separates high performers from those whose time at the top is all too brief. – Paul Nunes, Accenture Research, featured in Harvard Business Review

Clients of today demand so much more from skincare products and treatments. No longer is it enough to expect a moisturiser to leave your skin smooth and hydrated! Just as consumers are expecting more from their skincare products the service treatments we as professionals offer clients need to step up a gear.
Industry insights 2020 and beyond.
– Skincare brands need to offer more transparency about ingredient source.
– “Farm to Face”, “Seed to Shelf” and “Cradle to Grave” are phrases that consumers are already using when challenging companies and organisations on sustainability and environmental impact.
– No longer is it okay to define customers based on skin types or skin concerns. With consumers blurring the lines of gender and age brands need to meet the customer on their terms.

A new survey conducted by Contento Marketing found that only about half of spas are satisfied with their retail concept – and more than half acknowledge their retail area could benefit from improvement. While this may sound discouraging, it actually can be seen as an incredible opportunity.

Secondly, the autonomy of digital devices and super retailers are going to force spas to step up their customer service game and technology.
15.30 – 16.00 The Rise of Brand Influencers
A key ingredient making influencer marketing so attractive is word-of-mouth, always seen as the “holy grail” of marketing. People are more likely to trust a strong recommendation from a friend – and how many of us have imagined our favourite artist or athlete as our best friend at some point in our lives?
