Why Spa? Millions of people worldwide visit spas every year but if you have never been to a spa, you may be wondering why they go.

SRI International’s latest Global Spa & Wellness Economy Report values the global Spa & Wellness industry at $3.4 trillion. There are an estimated 105,591 spas in operation around the world. Asia has the greatest number of spas, with more than 32,000 facilities across the continent. The emerging markets in the Middle East and Africa have demonstrated the highest growth rates in the spa sector.

As per the preliminary results of the Spa Benchmark Report 2014, conducted by the SA Spa Association and Intelligent Spas, Singapore, over the past 5 years, the number of Spas in South Africa has grown by 115%, number of spa visits by 135%, increased employment in the spa industry by 72% and total revenue of the spa industry by 221% to approximately R 1.2 billion. This growth is driven by consumers assuming greater responsibility for their own health and wellbeing.
